Tera Patrick’s New DVD Sets Sales Record at Hustler

In less than two weeks after its release, “InTERActive” starring Tera Patrick has become the fastest selling DVD of all time for legendary production company Hustler, breaking previous records set by stars such as Carmen Luvana, Nikki Benz and Jana Cova on ensemble productions in the past as well as the infamous Snoop Dogg releases of 2001. As a combined venture between Patrick’s own Teravision production company and the Hustler Video brand, this new release was billed as taking the interactive porn video a ’step beyond’ where it has been so far, by not only allowing the user to interact with the sex scenes filmed, but to also change the story to their preference.

The production, focusing on the neglected wife (played by Patrick) of a gangster allows actions to be influenced and changed by the viewer, including whether they view hardcore material or solo material, all of which was filmed and then put together conhesively in order to create a plot for each option chosen throughout the title. In a February interview with news outlet AVN promoting the then-upcoming release (Late March, although figures from retail outlets for intial sales along with preorders has only just been processed), Tera spoke of the DVD as well as her co-star Hillary Scott…

“How many story options does the viewer have in InTERActive? “A lot,” Patrick laughed. “I’m not sure just how many, but there’s even an option where he gets killed and buried — for being with me. My husband comes home and finds him. She [Hillary] played my neighbor and she really gets into a lot of trouble. I think she’s awesome but we didn’t get to do a scene together. That’s for the next one”

With press conferences and interviews promoting the title since January, Hustler executives admit that they expected demand for the release to be fierce. With Creative Director Drew Rosenfeld quoting how “The pre-order numbers are way beyond our expectations” with over a month to go before the title release. Due to the success it is likely that a number of Tera’s upcoming titles will recieve heavier marketing budgets from the firm, especially due to her planned retirement from performing coming within the next 18 months.

Due to the huge demand for the title, fuelled by Patrick’s mainstream and Hollywood prescence growing (with a recent cameo in the Will Ferrell comedy ‘Blades of Glory’ being one of the more notable), Hustler have this week added the DVD as a full-movie download inside the member’s area of Hustler.com, as well as released promo tools which allow their webmasters to take full advantage of promoting the release. Although it is arguable the internet release of ‘inTERAactive’ will slow hard-copy sales, bootlegging of the title has been rife due to her huge fanbase and the Hustler.com download addition is one of the few ways to quench demand from the huge share of the market that the internet has created in recent years.
